LCVP Blues
Cradle of Invasion: Solomons, Maryland, 1942–1945
In 1942, the United States Navy established its first amphibious training base at Solomons, Maryland, to meet the urgent demands of World War II. The base trained thousands of marines, soldiers, sailors, and coast guardsmen who saw action throughout Europe and the Pacific.
LCVP Blues shows the young Navy crew practicing the run-in to shore near Cove Point, Maryland that they would repeat again and again on the beaches of Normandy.
LCVP Blues was created as a commemorative poster for the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons, Maryland. The print will be used in conjunction with the museum's Cradle of Invasion event which annually commemorates the U.S. Navy's Amphibious Training Base in Solomons. Giclee prints of LCVP Blues are also available. Prints are 12" x 15" and are printed on primed white canvas. Each print is sealed with an acrylic varnish and signed by the artist in oil. Cost per print is $200 plus $18 shipping and handling. Giclee prints are made one at a time, so please allow two to four weeks for delivery. Please note that prints are delivered on a canvas sheet and will need to be mounted when framed.
